Terms of Sale
Buyers are required to Agree and Sign our Buyers Agreement.
• No goat will be held without a half deposit, no exceptions! We accept Zelle, Cash, and PayPal. (If paying by PayPal you must send via friends/family or include the processing fee) At this time no personal checks.
• No deposits will be refunded should you not go through with the sale for any reason. Although we don't expect any accidents, should the goat pass before leaving our farm, your deposit will be refunded or rolled over to a different available goat.
• At this time once the animal leaves our property we cannot take them back due to bio security reasons, and the health of our herd.
• There may be a time where a Doe or Buck of breeding quality is sold with the "breeders right of first refusal" to buy the animal back if you were to sell them for any reason. Meaning if you no longer want the goat for any reasons, please ask me first before selling to someone else if I would like to buy the animal back to continue their genetics for our herd. We can’t keep all babies so some will be difficult to part with. If buy back is agreed upon, the doe or buck will be bought back for the same amount as paid for. (Unless proven by Milk, LA, Show wins indicate differently) We will ask for negative test results of CAE/Johnes/CL before taking them back at our expense.
• Because we are constantly trying to better our herd, we have the right to retain ANY kid born at any time to be held for our program. Although unlikely, if there is a deposit on said kid, all money will be returned or can be applied to another available kid.
• All kids will be disbudded or polled for the safety of the goat and new owner.
• We dam raise our goats unless bottle feeding is required. We believe the bond between dam and kid is a beautiful thing and very important to the health of the baby. While I spend as much time as I possibly can with all the kids, sometimes it takes more one on one to make them super friendly. This is the responsibility of the new owner.
• We prefer to keep all kids until 8-12 weeks of age unless you have specifically requested a bottle baby.
• Before leaving, all kids will have been dewormed, given coccidia prevention, and given a lice prevention. The day of leaving they will be given B-12 paste with probiotics, to help them during stress.
• You will be given a sample of feed to help transition to the feed of your choice, along with a feeding guide.
• Lovesdown Ranch does not and cannot guarantee height, or production of any animal. We also cannot guarantee milk production, show wins, or udder quality. We will try to fit each goat to the owner’s needs, however we are working with genetics that can do one of many things.
• Lovesdown Ranch does check for teat defects on all animals at birth and before leaving. If a defect is found you will be notified and will have your choice of a different kid or a return on your deposit. Should you believe an animal you purchased from Lovesdown Ranch has developed a defect please contact us IMMEDIANTLY to discuss the issue.
• If you are needing your goat to be air shipped or ground transported, please note that any and all required costs associated with it is responsible of the buyer in ADDITION TO the cost of the goat. The cost associated with transport and the goat must be paid in full before leaving the farm. (Crate, health certificate, air fare, state required tests, etc.)
• All goats leaving the farm MUST have proper and safe means for travel. An appropriate sized dog crate, kennel, or closed trailer that kids will not get out of are REQUIRED. If you have an open wire crate for the back of the truck, it must be covered with a tarp. No goats will leave if I feel they will not travel safely.
• Farm pick ups: Once it is time to pick your goat up and a mutual agreed upon time has been set, please be sure to communicate if you are going to be late to our agreed upon time. We understand things happen, please let us know ASAP if you are unable to come on the day we scheduled. We can reschedule once, however, multiple cancellations will result in boarding charges for the care and feed your goat will require. If boarding happens a minimum of $15 per goat a week will be applied to the final cost of the goat(s) and MUST be paid before pick up. If not picked up within 30 days of original agreed upon time, sale will be forfeited and all future sales will be subject to be paid in full up front OR we may have the right to refuse any sales at our discretion.
• We do not deliver goats unless otherwise noted or discussed at our discretion! Any and all details are based on the situation.
• Please know if coming to see your future kid(s) you MUST make an appointment. Do not show up unannounced and expect to see your kid(s). You will be asked nicely to come back at a mutually agreed upon time.
• For Bio-security reasons, we do not allow anyone in our goat pens and you must stay at the areas in the front of our property.
• Do not show up with sandals, flip flops, or heels! Please wear long pants and proper shoes. We are in the country, have free ranging guineas, fire ants, sticker grass. Appropriate shoes are a must!
• NO OUTSIDE ANIMALS ALLOWED, OF ANY KIND, FOR ANY REASON!
Forms and Agreements
Buyers Agreement
Please review and understand the following requirements that all, not just our goats, will need to live long happy lives. Please know that these are just the basics and we recommend seeking advice from a goat mentor or Veterinarian when needed! By signing this agreement you have read and understand all the needs and requirements of owning a goat. If you have questions before signing, please feel free to ask! We want everyone to be comfortable with the purchase of their new family member.
• Goats are herd animals. That means they need one or more animals of the SAME species to be happy AND healthy. A lonely goat is an unhappy goat (and VERY loud). Please know that no goats will be sold as a single unless you have other goats.
• Despite the popular myth, goats do NOT eat anything and everything. They require specific nutrition to thrive.
• Goats are browsers, not grazers. If you are getting a goat for the sole purpose of mowing your lawn, you will be greatly disappointed. They eat leaves, brush, weeds and plants alike aside from their daily requirement of hay.
• All goats need copper and minerals formulated specifically for goats. Using a mineral for goat and sheep is not recommended due to lack of copper. Some areas are naturally higher in copper and should never give extra copper when not needed.
• Goats are masters at escaping! They can jump, climb, squeeze and push their way out of fences. Be sure your fences are at minimum 4ft, 5ft for bucks, and are not welded wire. Nigerian Dwarfs are small! Make sure the holes in your fence are small enough they can't squeeze out of.
• Make sure you have a well ventilated barn or shelter. An area that they can get out of the wind, rain, cold and heat. A wet and/or cold goat is a sick goat!
• Please understand that goats, like any animal, can get sick. When that happens they may need vet care just like a dog or cat would. Please be prepared to take them to a vet when necessary. Knowledgeable goat vets are hard to find. We recommend searching for one before bringing home a goat just in case. We also recommend purchasing necessary over the counter lifesaving medicine BEFORE
you bring your new friend home. (We can provide a list if needed)
• If wanting a pet goat only, a wethered (castrated to where they cannot reproduce) male is your best option. A wethered male won't stink or have the nasty habits an intact buck has. Also, they won't go into screaming heat cycles like a Doe will. If purchasing a Doe/Buck for breeding, please note they cannot stay in the same pen together as they can breed as early as 7 weeks (though this is very unhealthy and should not!). Have separate pens prepared BEFORE bringing them home. Also be sure they both have another goat buddy besides each other so they don't become lonely.
• Goats can live between 12-15 years. Sometimes longer. They are not a Christmas, Easter, birthday, or special occasion gift.

Bottle Baby Agreement
Choosing to bottle raise a baby goat is a big commitment, but very a rewarding experience. Bottle babies are very affectionate and form a very strong bond with their human companions. For the safety of the baby goats we require all kids going home on a bottle to have a Bottle Baby Agreement signed by the buyer. Please make sure you have the time and resources needed to purchase a bottle baby.
**Baby’s temperature needs to be 101-103 before they eat.**
(if baby is running and playing and acting normal this is a good sign they are at the correct temperature)
-
Only use goat milk or whole cows milk (sold with a red top) We DO NOT recommend any goat milk replacers.
-
NEVER feed a baby goat water from a bottle.
-
Overfeeding a baby goat can be serious and even fatal. Bottle babies ALWAYS want to be fed. Please follow the feeding guideline below for age and weight.
-
Newborns are fed Colostrum for the first 24-48 hours. Babies coming from Spooky Trees Farm will have been given colostrum from their dam or a replacer.
-
Babies must be fed a minimum of 4 times a day for the first 2 weeks, after that you can feed 3 times a day until 9-12 weeks. After that, if you choose to continue to bottle feed you may reduce down to 2 bottles. Always gradually decrease the bottle you are trying to eliminate(mid day bottle drop 1 ounce every day until you can stop that bottle).
-
Baby goats should be bottle fed for at least 12 weeks. The longer you bottle feed a baby the more they will thrive. Remember we are trying to replicate natural dam feeding.
-
A bottle needs to be warmed to 101 -104 degrees before being fed. Heat bottles in a pan of water on the stove.
-
We recommend adding a pinch of probiotic powder in the first bottle of the day.
-
During this time they will also be eating feed and hay and drinking water. Your baby’s need to have access to hay, water and minerals at all times.
-
Baby goats sample everything in their environment. They are learning what they can eat. This includes grass, dirt, wood, shirts, pants, fingers and hair.
-
Baby goats must have an adequate shelter and a heat lamp if temperatures are below 50 degrees.
