Terms of Sale

•No deposits will be refunded should you not go through with the sale for any reason. Although we don't expect any accidents, should the goat pass before leaving our farm, your deposit will be refunded or rolled over to a different available goat.
•We reserve the right to retain any goat.
• We hybrid feed because we do performance programs.
• Lovesdown Ranch does not and cannot guarantee height, or production of any animal. We also cannot guarantee milk production, show wins, or udder quality. Environmental/management can and will effect all of the above.
• If you are needing your goat to be air shipped or ground transported, please note that any and all required costs associated with it is responsible of the buyer in ADDITION TO the cost of the goat. The cost associated with transport and the goat must be paid in full before leaving the farm. (Crate, health certificate, air fare, state required tests, etc.)

If boarding happens a minimum of $15 per goat a week will be applied to the final cost of the goat(s) and MUST be paid before pick up. If not picked up within 30 days of original agreed upon time, sale will be forfeited and all future sales will be subject to be paid in full up front OR we may have the right to refuse any sales at our discretion.

Forms and Agreements

Buyers Agreement
Please review and understand the following requirements that all, not just our goats, will need to live long happy lives. Please know that these are just the basics and we recommend seeking advice from a goat mentor or Veterinarian when needed! By signing this agreement you have read and understand all the needs and requirements of owning a goat. If you have questions before signing, please feel free to ask! We want everyone to be comfortable with the purchase of their new family member.
• Goats are herd animals. That means they need one or more of the SAME species to be happy AND healthy. A lonely goat is an unhappy/unhealthy goat (and VERY loud). Please know that no goats will be sold as a single unless you have other goats.
• Despite the popular myth, goats do NOT eat anything and everything. They require specific nutrition to thrive.
• Goats are browsers, not grazers. If you are getting a goat for the sole purpose of mowing your lawn, you will be greatly disappointed. They eat leaves, brush, weeds and plants alike aside from their daily requirement of hay.
• All goats need minerals formulated specifically for goats. Using a mineral for goat and sheep is not recommended due to lack of copper. Nigerian Dwarfs are small! Make sure the holes in your fence are small enough they can't squeeze out of.
• Make sure you have a well ventilated barn or shelter. An area that they can get out of the wind, rain, cold and heat. A wet and/or cold goat is a sick goat!
• Please understand that goats, like any animal, can get sick. When that happens they may need vet care just like a dog or cat would. Please be prepared to take them to a vet when necessary. Knowledgeable goat vets are hard to find. We recommend searching for one before bringing home a goat just in case. We also recommend purchasing necessary over the counter lifesaving medicine BEFORE you bring your new friend home. (We can provide a list if needed)
• If wanting a pet goat only, a wethered (castrated to where they cannot reproduce) male is your best option. A wethered male won't stink or have the nasty habits an intact buck has. Also, they won't go into screaming heat cycles like a doe will. If purchasing a Doe/Buck for breeding, please note they cannot stay in the same pen together as they can breed as early as 7 weeks (though this is very unhealthy and should not!). Have separate pens prepared BEFORE bringing them home. Also be sure they both have another goat buddy besides each other so they don't become lonely.
• Goats can live between 12-15 years. Sometimes longer. They are not a Christmas, Easter, birthday, or special occasion gift.

Bottle Baby Agreement
Choosing to bottle raise a baby goat is a big commitment, but very a rewarding experience. Bottle babies are very affectionate and form a very strong bond with their human companions. For the safety of the baby goats we require all kids going home on a bottle to have a Bottle Baby Agreement signed by the buyer. Please make sure you have the time and resources needed to purchase a bottle baby.
**Baby’s temperature needs to be 101.5 before they eat.**
(if baby is running and playing and acting normal this is a good sign they are at the correct temperature)
-
Only use goat milk or whole cows milk (sold with a red top) We DO NOT recommend any goat milk replacers.
-
NEVER feed a baby goat water from a bottle.
-
Overfeeding a baby goat can be serious and even fatal. Bottle babies ALWAYS want to be fed. Please follow the feeding guideline we send you. Please note this is a BASE guide and not a "one fits all". Please monitor weight and rumen size (left side) while feeding.
-
Newborns are fed Colostrum for the first 24-48 hours. Babies coming from Spooky Trees Farm will have been given colostrum from their dam or a replacer.
-
Babies must be fed a minimum of 4 times a day for the first 2 weeks, after that you can feed 3 times a day until 9-12 weeks. After that, if you choose to continue to bottle feed you may reduce down to 2 bottles. Always gradually decrease the bottle you are trying to eliminate(mid day bottle drop 1 ounce every day until you can stop that bottle).
-
Baby goats should be bottle fed for at least 12 weeks. The longer you bottle feed a baby the beter they will thrive. Remember we are trying to replicate natural dam feeding.
-
A bottle needs to be warmed to 101 degrees before being fed. Heat bottles in a pan of water on the stove.
-
We recommend adding a pinch of probiotic powder or baking soda in the first bottle of the day.
-
During this time they will also be eating feed and hay and drinking water. Your baby’s need to have access to hay, water and minerals at all times.
-
Baby goats sample everything in their environment. They are learning what they can eat. This includes grass, dirt, wood, shirts, pants, fingers and hair.
-
Baby goats must have an adequate shelter espescially if temperatures are below 50 degrees.
